Competing at the first ever Crossroads League Indoor Invitational hosted by Indiana Wesleyan over the weekend, the HU men’s track team finished 9th while the women took 8th.

Adam Woods claimed the Foresters only 1st place finish by winning the men’s heptathlon with 3,837 points and for his efforts received All-Conference honors.

Peyton Depriest turned in a PR by clocking in at 50.68 in the 400 meters good for 5th place. Avniel Barrow also posted a new personal best in the prelims of the 60 meters with a time of 6.98 on Friday. In the finals on Saturday, he clocked in at 7.09 to earn 7th place.

Bradey Gerke brought home a 7th place badge in triple jump. His mark of 40-11 landed him the 6th spot in the HU record books. Huntington also earned a handful of points in the 4×400 meter relay (7th, 3:32.04) and 4×800 meter relay (8th, 8:20.68).

Indiana Wesleyan claimed the men’s title with 151 points followed by Taylor (128.5), Bethel (126.5), Marian (110), Mount Vernon (81), Spring Arbor (63), Grace (52), Saint Francis (24), HU (21) and Goshen (8).

Nicole Pennington earned points for the Huntington women in two events. She finished 4th in the 60 meters with her time of 8.09 and 8th in the 200 meters by running a PR 27.26. Benedicte Nzombi-Fenner also ran the 60 meters where she finished 6th in 8.19.

Elise Cormany and Alyssabeth Cottle each soared 8-11.25 in pole vault to claim 5th and 6th respectively. Molly Mitchell took 6th in the 400 meters by clocking in at 1:02.83. Breanna Metz rounded out points collected in an individual event with her 8th place leap of 4-07.25 in high jump.

The Foresters placed 7th in three relays which included the 4×400 meter relay (4:22.89), 4×800 meter relay (10:53.70) and the distance medley relay (14:18.11).

Taylor won on the women’s side with 179 points followed by Indiana Wesleyan (162), Marian (134.5), Spring Arbor (101.5), Bethel (66), Saint Francis (46), Mount Vernon (45), HU (26) and Goshen (7).

HU has one more indoor meet, Anderson University’s Fred Wilt Invitational, on February 24.
